Study Yoruba technique and dances of the Orishas. Focus on developing your skills as a dancer – developing coordination, interpretation, body control, and musicality
The AfroCuban dances of the Orishas are part of the African legacy in Cuba. Through the process of transculturation the Yoruba religion and culture played an important role in shaping AfroCuban religions, art, music, and dances that are prevalent in modern day Cuban society.
These dances are an integral part of the curriculum in professional dance schools. Learning the technique used to prepare dancers for them and studying the dances themselves will help advance your skills whether your interest is religious, professional performance, personal development, or to enrich other forms of dance.
